Greta is the mother of two Palestinian-American children whose father was born and raised in Safad, Palestine from which he was forced to flee in 1948.

Greta was the primary spokesperson for Freedom Flotilla 1 in May 2010, appearing on international media in Europe, the Middle East and the United States when the flotilla was attacked by Israeli commandos.

Greta has been in the West Bank three times since 2003 working with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), where she was wounded in the leg by an Israeli bullet, and has written extensively on the issue in the U.S. and the Arab world.
